Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today on steep wind loaded aspects and associated slide paths above 8,500 feet. On Saturday soft slab avalanches were reported in the Pinnnacle Peak area on a northerly aspect at an elevation of 9,100 feet and on an east southeasterly aspect at 10,800 feet. In the Tetons deep slab avalanches two to six feet in depth occured on Monday. These slabs ran on slick old snow surfaces. Similar events could be triggered in the Continental Divide Trails area today. Use caution and avoid steep wind loaded aspects underlain by hard old snow surfaces. The general avalanche hazard is LOW below the 8,500 foot elevation. Low hazard does not mean no hazard exists.
