Avalanche Summary

  1. Winds have drifted recent snow onto slopes above treeline. Use caution if you find stiff or hard layers of snow on high-elevation, northerly-facing slopes. Steep gullies or areas just below ridgelines are the most likely spots to find them. You could trigger an avalanche in these spots. Even a small slide can take you on a nasty ride through barely covered rocks.
