Lo esencial

Southwest winds will form pockets of new soft slab 6 to 12 inches deep at the upper elevations. These slabs could be triggered by skiers who venture into steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones. Mostly stable snow exists at the mid and lower elevations except for isolated pockets of new soft slab six inches or less in depth.

Avalanche Discussion

An additional one to three inches of new snow is expected by Sunday morning with scattered snow showers lingering throughout the day. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the single digits before climbing to near 20 during the day. Westerly winds will decrease overnight to 10 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the higher elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet) and LOW at the mid and lower elevations (below 9,000 feet). Backcountry travelers venturing into steep, wind-loaded terrain could trigger slabs up to 12 inches in depth.
