The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. Yesterday a large slab avalanche was reported on the east face of Lava Mountain. This event indicates instability assocaited with a weak basal layer of faceted snow persist on steep avalanche prone slopes. The potential to trigger similar events will increase as the day warms.
