The weather will be cloudy. In some localities light precipitation. As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack will consolidate during the next few days.
Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on steep shady slopes. Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow on steep slopes. This applies in particular in case of a large load. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
Snowpack Structure
The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will hardly soften at all. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on steep north facing slopes.
