Forecast Snow Stability: Marginally stable snow will exist in steepest, mostly North to Easterly aspect above 900 metres. Greatest accumulations will be in steep, sheltered gully tops on North West through to Easterly aspects. The existing snowpack elsewhere will continue to consolidate. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Mainly dry overnight with further wintry showers during the day above 800 metres. Light South-Westerly winds. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight there was some fresh snow at summit elevations. Thereafter it has been a grey and overcast day. A light mizzle began to affect all elevations from midday. The winds have been light South-Easterly. ObservedSnowStability: Pockets of marginally bonded windslab exist in steepest, primarily North-Westerly aspects above 900 metres. All snow deposits below 900 metres have consolidated rapidly as the day progressed. Recent snow cover in these areas is now much depleted and here, stability is good. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
