A passing cold front brought 4 to 8 inches of new snow to the higher elevations. This system favored the west slope and the northern portions of the Teton Range. This new snow has accumulated on firm old snow surfaces. Loose snow sloughs could be triggered by humans on very steep slopes or release naturally on steep sunlit aspects. These sloughs and isolated pockets of shallow wind slab pose a hazard to skiers and riders who venture in very steep chutes, couloirs and cliff areas. Watch out for unstable snow in isolated terrain features.

A weak low pressure system along the Idaho/Montana border will move into the Cowboy State overnight. This fast moving system is forecast to bring 2 to 4 inches of new snow to the higher elevations between 9 PM tonight and 3 AM this morning. Snowfall will end during the morning hours. Cloud cover will decrease during the day. Temperatures will be in the teens and 20s in the mountains and in the 20s and 30s in the valleys. Winds will be variable from the west to northeast at speeds of 5 to 15 miles per hour with higher gusts.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW. Mostly stable snow exists. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations. At the upper elevations small pockets of wind slab up a foot in depth and loose snow sloughs could be triggered by skiers or riders who venture into very steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones.
