Significant warming. As the day progresses especially on steep sunny slopes there will be a gradual increase in the danger of dry and wet avalanches to level 2 (moderate).
As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase gradually. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in southeast to south to southwest facing aspects and in steep rocky terrain. The wind slabs can be released by large loads in particular. The conditions are favourable in the morning for backcountry touring and other off-piste activities.
The snowpack will be stable in the early morning. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to rapid moistening of the snowpack in some places. Weak layers exist in the snowpack especially on steep shady slopes.
Increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the precipitation.
