Avalanche Activity

The weather will be cold. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Since Wednesday small wind slabs will form in particular in the regions neighbouring those that are subject to danger level 2 (moderate), especially adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. These can in isolated cases be released, even by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular on extremely steep slopes especially at intermediate and high altitudes. Even a small avalanche can sweep people along and give rise to falls. Individual loose snow avalanches are possible as the day progresses, but they will be mostly small. This applies in particular on extreme slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Monday: The weather conditions gave rise to consolidation of the old snowpack in all aspects. Gradual decrease in danger of dry and wet avalanches. Towards its surface, the snowpack is hard and its surface has a strong melt-freeze crust. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften later than the day before. Above approximately 2300 m a lot of snow is lying.

Tendency

The weather will be cold. In some localities light snowfall. The sometimes storm force wind will transport only a little snow.
