The backcountry touring conditions in the morning, after a clear night, are mostly favourable.

Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on very steep shady slopes. In isolated cases the avalanches can be triggered in deep layers of the snowpack and reach medium size in isolated cases. This applies in particular in case of a large load. The avalanche prone locations are rare but are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. As a consequence of falling temperatures, the natural avalanche activity has already appreciably decreased. In the vicinity of peaks a moderate danger of dry avalanches will persist in some regions.

As a consequence of falling temperatures the snowpack consolidated at the weekend. The new snow of last week has settled to a large extent in all aspects below approximately 2800 m. In many cases new snow is lying on a hard crust. Relatively hard layers of snow are lying mostly on old snow containing large grains. In all regions in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
