Lo esencial

8AM UPDATE: Assess conditions and look for signs of instability.

Be prepared to dial back your terrain choices as storm slabs increase in size and likelihood.

Problemas de aludes

    Probabilidad

    Tamaño
    1–1.5

New, small storm slabs are expected to be reactive due to the large surface hoar they’ll form over.

Dry loose avalanches are likely where new snow doesn't form a slab.

Confidence

Moderate

  • We are uncertain about forecast precipitation amounts.
  • We are confident the likelihood of avalanches will increase with the forecast weather.

Avalanche Summary

There have been no new avalanches reported in over a week.

Snowpack Summary

The snow surface is variable. On sheltered features 5 to 15 cm of recent snow sits over a surface hoar crust combo. In sun exposed terrain a sun crust is likely, on high north facing terrain pockets of wind deposited snow exist.

The mid and lower snowpack is well settled.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Watch for fresh storm slabs building throughout the day.
  • Make observations and continually assess conditions as you travel.
  • Closely monitor how the new snow is bonding to the old surface.
  • Loose avalanches may start small, but they can grow and push you into dangerous terrain.
