Lo esencial

With a sunny day in the forecast and high temperatures in the 40's it's likely we will see small Wet Loose avalanches today on aspects that see significant sunshine at all elevations.  If you feel the surface snow warming, observe roller balls or pinwheels, it's time to look for non-avalanche terrain, change to a shadier aspect (NW-N-NE aspects).  Avoid traveling under steep sun-drenched slopes later in the day.

A sunny day in the forecast will bring with it warm temperatures in the 40's.   Small wet loose avalanches on aspects that see significant sunshine at all elevations are possible.  If you feel the surface snow warming, observe roller balls or pinwheels, it's time to look for non-avalanche terrain and move to a shadier aspect.  Avoid traveling under steep sun-drenched slopes later in the day.    If you see roller balls or pinwheels then the surface snow is warming and the likelihood of triggering a wet loose avalanche has increased.

Avalanche Discussion

The new snow we received Monday - Wednesday was a welcomed refresh.  Warm temperatures yesterday and today will impact this new snow and wet loose avalanches are possible.  In some areas, the new snow will have loaded into gullies and other terrain features.  With temperatures increasing to the mid 40's today we will see this new snow warming producing roller balls and pinwheels.
