Deep persistent slabs are still a potential hazard on steep avalanche prone slopes. This morning's air temperatures at elevation are starting off around ten degrees warmer than yesterday morning and are forecast to rise into the mid-30s and 40s. Warming temperatures will increase the wet snow avalanche hazard. Wet slides are possible on very steep slopes. Cornices collapses are also possible and could triggered a very large deep slab avalanche. Avalanche activity is unlikely below an elevation of 8,000 feet. Monitor conditions and avoid steep terrain and cornices during the warmest portion of the day.

    Backcountry travelers could trigger a deep slab avalanche with depths to five feet on steep avalanche prone slopes. These dangerous deep slab avalanches are most likely to be triggered by a snowmobile or a cornice failure. Consequences would be severe if a person was caught in one of these large, destructive avalanches.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Tomorrow will be another warm day. Overnight lows will be in the 20s. Daytime highs will rise into the 30s and 40s. Increasing clouds with rain and snow showers will begin to move towards the area in the afternoon and evening. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 15 miles per hour.The snowpack will be mostly stable during the early morning hours. Warming temperatures will increase the wet snow avalanche hazard as the day progresses. Deep persistent slab avalanches are still a hazard in the Greys River and Togwotee Pass areas. These dangerous slabs could be triggered by snowmachines or cornice failures. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in the morning and increase to MODERATE after snow surfaces soften.
