Lo esencial

On Friday avalanches large enough to bury or injure a rider will be unlikely.  Continue to use safe travel techniques and to monitor conditions.  Isolated small Wet Loose avalanches may occurr on the steepest slopes at low elevations during periods of rain.  For the rest of the spring I will be giving cornices a wide berth, particularly when the temperature is above freezing.

Wet Loose avalanches that are large enough to be concerning are unlikely on Friday.  Light amounts of rain are in the forecast and small instabilities are possible on very steep slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

Several days of warm temperatures and sun provided us with several melt-freeze cycles and good corn snow riding.  Thursday followed the trend although with high clouds and temperatures a few degrees cooler (the weather station at 6,424 feet on Century Dr. still reached 50 F).  Natural Wet Loose avalanche activity seems to have peaked on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Slightly cooler weather on Friday and minimal amounts of rain are leading to the forecast of Low danger.
