Lo esencial

Wet avalanches will be possible on steep sunny slopes during the afternoon.  Time your riding so that the snow has melted enough for pleasant riding, but isn't so slushy or mushy that wet avalanches are a problem.  If you find yourself sinking deeply into wet snow, avoid steep slopes or move to cooler aspects.

    Tuesday will be the warmest day yet, with the highest temperatures, sunny skies, and light winds.  I expect we will see Wet Loose avalanche activity.  We tend to see small wet avalanches first in very steep terrain and near exposed rocks and cliffs (of which there are more than usual).  Overnight temperatures have been hard to predict due to inversion and cold air pooling.  If the snow surface hasn't refrozen, expect the wet avalanche problem to materialize pretty early in the day.

    Most wet avalanche activity will take the form of Wet Loose avalanches, since most sunny slopes have had a few days to transition from powder to melt-forms.  I won't completely rule out small slab avalanches that become unstable due to the warming.  These might occur on slopes that were holding dry snow, and are then warmed rapidly on Tuesday.
