The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE above 7,500 feet and MODERATE below 7,500 feet. Large unstable slabs lie upon weak, faceted snow.     Above 7,500 feet, backcountry travelers could trigger dense slabs with crown depths of two to five feet on a variety of aspects. These slabs have been triggered in areas where thick deposits of wind-drifted snow have built up in avalanche starting zones. Shallow weak-spots in these slabs are the most likely trigger points. These slabs may also become more susceptible to failure on sunlit aspects in the afternoon as the day warms. Do not let previous tracks lull you into a false sense of security as they are not an indication of stability. Below 7,500 feet, these slabs could have crown depths up to two feet deep.

Overnight lows in the mountains could drop into the single digits before rising into the upper 20s during the day. Northwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 5 to 15 miles per hour.The poor structure of the snowpack will keep the general avalanche hazard CONSIDERABLE in the Greys River and Togwotee Pass areas on Saturday. Dense slabs, two to five feet in depth, lie upon weak, faceted snow and could be triggered on a variety of aspects. In the Tetons, where the faceted snow is less prominent, similar slides remain possible in isolated areas, and the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. In all forecast areas, the consequences of being caught in one of these slides continue to be high. Do not let previous tracks lull you into a false sense of security as they are not an indication of stability.
