Avalanche Summary

Start and end your day early. The most hazardous slopes are those with large cornices guarding the ridgelines. Observers have reported multiple small wet loose avalanches triggered by cornices later in the day or after rain. Avoid being under slopes with cornices.

Step onto the snow in just your boots and if you sink past your ankles into wet snow, head to cooler slopes or call it a day. Clear skies are critical to a solid snowpack freeze, so if you are in an area that stays cloudy overnight, your window of safe travel may be reduced. Plan your day carefully so you don't have to travel across steep slopes late in the day.
