Lo esencial

Recently formed surface slabs to a foot in depth could be triggered in steep avalanche starting zones and near cliff areas at the upper elevations. Throughout the mountains older hard slabs to a depth of three feet at high elevations and to one foot at low elevations lie upon a weak layer of surface hoar and faceted snow. The chance for triggering slides on this layer has diminished greatly due to settlement and temperature variations, yet even though mostly stable snow exists, isolated but potentially large avalanches with serious consequences could be triggered on steep slopes today if a weak trigger point is found.
