Avalanches could break in the middle or bottom of the snowpack. Slopes with (relatively) deep or continuous snow could produce avalanches big enough to bury or injure you. The most problematic spots are below ridgelines, in cross-loaded gullies, or on snow-filled, concave slopes. You might trigger avalanches from the bottom of slopes. Feel for stiff, supportable layers in the snowpack. Avoid steep slopes if you see cracking or hear collapsing.
