Lo esencial

At the upper elevations dense surface slabs up to three feet in depth lie upon hard old snow surfaces. These slabs were formed by west winds and then reworked by northeast winds. Humans who venture into very steep avalanche starting zones and cliff areas could trigger one of these slabs. At the mid and lower elevations mostly stable snow exists, however isolated pockets of surface slab up to 18 inches deep could be human triggered in very steep avalanche starting zones and in cliff areas.

In the Tetons and Greys River/Southwest Trails area, snow showers are expected to continue Saturday night with three to five inches of new snow by Sunday morning, followed by another three to five during the day. Less snowfall is forecasted for the Togwotee Pass/Continental Divide area. Overnight temperatures in the mountains will be near 20 before rising slightly on Sunday. Valley lows will be in the mid 20s before climbing to near freezing during the day.In the Teton and Greys River/Southwest Trails areas, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate on Sunday. There, pockets of soft slab will continue to build on leeward slopes near ridgelines above 9,000 feet. These slabs, up to twelve inches deep, will increase in depth and extent during the day. Isolate pockets of dense slab, up to 30 inches deep, have limited potential to fail on old snow surfaces in very steep avalanche terrain and cliff areas.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Sunday in the Teton and Greys River/Southwest Trails areas below an elevation of 9,000 feet, and in the Togwotee Pass/Continental Divide area. In wind-affected terrain, isolated pockets of very shallow soft slab will develop on a mostly stable snowpack.
