Lo esencial

Deep instabilities may persist in isolated areas at the upper elevations. Large human triggered avalanches remain a possibility in isolated slide paths. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,000 feet where the snowpack is mostly stable.

In isolated areas at the upper elevations depth hoar persists near the base of the snowpack. Deep hard slabs with depths to 40 inches could be human triggered on this weak persistent layer. This basal weakness is limited in distribution and is most likely to be found along the east slope of the Wyoming Range.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Dryer conditions are expected overnight with a few scattered snow showers. Areas of light snowfall that could bring an inch or two of snow to the higher elevations are possible on Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the teens during the night time hours and will rise into the 20s and 30s during the day. Winds will be west to southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour.Mostly stable snow exists. Isolated pockets of wind slab will be a concern at the upper elevations. These shallow wind slabs could be human triggered in cliff areas, in steep couloirs and on steep hanging snowfields. In isolated areas in the Togwotee Pass and Greys River areas deep hard slabs could be human triggered in steep active avalanche paths. Although the general avalanche hazard is mostly LOW areas of MODERATE hazard persist.
