Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is LOW. A slight chance persists for backcountry travelers to trigger pockets of shallow surface slab, along with deeper dense slabs on steep, avalanche-prone slopes above 9,000 feet.

In isolated areas above 9,000 feet, limited potential remains for skiers and riders to trigger hard slabs with depths up to three feet. Very large avalanches might be triggered by snow machines in extreme terrain like the east face of Lava Mountain.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Mountain snow and valley rain will begin Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday morning before tapering during the day. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the mid-20s before rising to near freezing in the afternoon. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will veer to the northwest at 15 to 25 miles per hour.Mostly stable snow exists and the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Thursday. In isolated area, a remote chance persists for large triggers, such as snowmobiles, to release a hard slab up to three feet deep in very steep, avalanche-prone terrain.
