NC for 18/2. Variable winds and snow. Windslab on many aspects above 900m. NE to E to S aspects most affected. Considerable hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of poorly bonded windslab will be present on many aspects above 900 metres. Most affected will be North-East to South-East aspects. Southerly aspects will become progressively more affected throughout the day. Pockets of windslab will also be present below 900 metres, mostly in wind sheltered locations on NE to SE aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight, initially winds will be strong Westerly, then Southerly. During the day winds will continue to back Easterly, Northerly and finally North-Westerly. There will be snowfall throughout the daylight hours, heaviest around midday. The freezing will remain around 400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: It is a cold day with Westerly winds and intense snow showers leading to significant drifting. The freezing level is around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Moderate to poorly bonded windslab continues to develop mainly on North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Exposed windward aspects tend to be scoured and hold little snow. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
