Avalanche Activity

The new snow represents the main danger.

The new snow is bonding poorly with the old snowpack. The fresh snow and the resulting wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects above approximately 2200 m. On very steep slopes small and medium sized avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. Avalanches can additionally be released in deep layers, in particular by large additional loads. This applies in particular above approximately 2800 m, in particular on extremely steep northeast, north and west facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

The wintry weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to unfavourable bonding of the snowpack in some cases in particular at intermediate and high altitudes. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack above approximately 2200 m. This snow will be deposited on a crust.
