Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of unstable windslab will continue to form in wind sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations will be on steep North, North-East and East aspects above 900 metres. Accumulations will be deepest in wind sheltered gullies and other similar terrain features. Other wind sheltered locations will also be affected due to cross loading. Some redistribution onto South-East aspects will occur during Thursday. Unstable cornices will continue to form. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers above 400 metres will continue throughout the forecast period. Strong South-West winds overnight will back to become North-West later, easing slightly. The 300 metre freezing level will rise to 600 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Strong South-West to West winds and snow showers with the freezing level around 500 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of unstable windslab are continuing to form in wind sheltered terrain. Greatest accumulations are on sheltered North, North-East and East aspects above 900 metres, notably gullies, scarp slopes and crag aprons. Cornices are also building above these aspects. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
