Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of fresh unstable windslab will develop mainly on North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Wind sheltered locations such as gullies, corrie rims and ridge flanks will be particularly affected. Fragile cornices will develop mainly above these aspects. The older snowpack will remain generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force South-Westerly winds overnight will slowly ease through the day. Showers falling as snow above around 900 metres die out in the afternoon. The freezing level will be around 1000 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A dry morning with showers falling as rain at summit levels in the afternoon. Increasing South-Easterly winds. The freezing level rose to above the highest summits. ObservedSnowStability: After an overnight freeze the snowpack softened during the day. It is well consolidated and generally stable in all locations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
