Avalanche Activity

As the day progresses as a consequence of warming during the day there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches.

The snowpack will be generally stable. The avalanche prone locations are rather rare and are easy to recognise. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in extremely steep terrain in high Alpine regions. The avalanches are only small. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase a little in particular on rocky sunny slopes at intermediate altitudes.

Snowpack Structure

In some cases wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes. From a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack.
