Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will continue to develop. Greatest accumulations will be on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. Cornices, mainly to be found above these aspects, will be fragile. Windward slopes will generally be scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers, falling as snow above around 700 metres become less frequent as the period progresses. Very strong Southerly winds initially, ease and veer to become fresh North-Westerlies overnight and then back to the West during the day. Freezing level around 900 metres overnight and 750 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Strong Southerly winds and snowfall above 700 metres or so. The freezing level was around 850 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh unstable windslab is present in wind sheltered locations mainly on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. Fragile cornices are present above these aspects. Windward aspects above 900 metres are scoured and on all aspects at lower elevations the snowpack is wet and generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
