Some fresh snow and the small wind slabs are lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack. Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at transitions into gullies and bowls. The fresh wind slabs are mostly small and can only be released in isolated cases. In the regions exposed to snowfall this applies in particular on steep slopes. Up to 2200 m rain has fallen in some localities. As the temperature drops there will be a rapid decrease in the danger of moist and wet avalanches during the course of the night. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will hardly soften at all. There is a danger of falling on the icy crust.

Up to 2200 m rain has fallen over a wide area. Little snow will fall until late morning in some localities. This applies in particular along the border with France. As a consequence of low temperatures the snowpack will consolidate. The old snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
