Forecast Snow Stability: Little change is expected; the remaining snowpack will continue to consolidate and will be well bonded and stable throughout. Snow cover will remain patchy with greatest amounts above 900 meters on North through East to South-East aspects. Later in the day isolated pockets of windslab will develop around the tops of gullies and coire rims on North-East to South-East aspects, but these will be generally shallow and avoidable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Very strong South-Westerly winds increasing to Storm Force by mid-day on Saturday, then veering to become Westerly by late afternoon. Very light snow showers expected mid-afternoon. The freezing level will remain above the summits until later in the day when it will lower to around 800 meters. Observed Weather Influences: Gale force Westerly winds. The freezing level rose from around 1000 meters to above the summits by late morning. A mainly dry day. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining snowpack continues to consolidate and is well bonded and stable throughout. Snow cover is patchy, greatest amounts remain above 900 meters on North through East to South-East aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
