Avalanche Activity

Small snowdrift accumulations have been generated due to fresh snow and wind

The small amount of fresh snow still effects only low avalanche danger. As a result of fresh snow and strong westerly winds, small snowdrift accumulations are prone to triggering at high altitudes. Risks of falling need to be taken into consideration.

Snowpack Structure

Amid intermittently strong westerly winds, snow has been intensively transported. The fresh snow and drifts were able to settle in the higher temperatures on Saturday and Sunday morning, and consolidate. At low altitudes there is very little snow on the ground.

Weather Synopsis

Nocturnal hours: heavy cloud cover, light snowfall. Wednesday: heavily overcast for the most part, light snowfall in the northern barrier cloud zones, by evening up to 10 cm of fresh snow is possible. Poor visibility is expected. Small bright intervals will be brief, more likely in the southern mountain massifs. Temperatures will drop. At 2000 m: -10 degrees. Moderate westerly winds.

Tendency

Thursday will be variably cloudy with brief bright intervals. It will remain cold. The process of settling and consolidating will progress very slowly due to low temperatures.Avalanche danger levels are not expected to change significantly.
