Westerly winds built very subtle and soft slabs on exposed open slopes on the 12th. The most likely place to trigger a wind slab avalanche is immediately on the lee side of a ridge. These slabs may be a bit thicker and stiffer than in non-wind affected terrain. You may not find obvious hard and supportive slabs as you might during more significant wind events. Check for a slightly cohesive layer of snow sitting over weaker snow. If you see obvious clues to instability such as shooting cracks and wind loaded texture, it's a good idea to stay off of steep leeward slopes.
The recent storm snow landed on a variety of surfaces from facets and surface hoar on shaded aspects to melt-freeze crusts on southerly aspects. We haven't received reports of widely propagating avalanches on the 3/11 facets, but we have found the structure in snowpack tests.
