Above an elevation of 8000 feet the general avalanche hazard is Moderate. In steep avalanche-prone terrain, the chance continues for riders and skiers to trigger slab avalanches. These slabs could be soft with depths to two feet or in large, wind-loaded terrain features the slabs could be hard, with depths to four feet. New snow could also be triggered in steep terrain as sloughs or as very shallow soft slabs. Avalanches below 8000 feet are unlikely in the shallow snowpack.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )The northern, weaker stream of a split flow pattern will bring light snow to the mountains of Western Wyoming overnight into Monday. Accumulations of three to five inches are possible by Monday night. Temperatures will fall to the lower teens overnight then warm to the upper 20s. Ridge top winds will be northwesterly at 10 miles per hour overnight then westerly at 10 during the day.New snow soft slabs or sloughs to a foot in depth will be easily triggered by people, or periods of sunshine, on steep slopes above 9,000 feet in the Tetons and Wyoming/Greys river ranges. Deeper slab concerns continue as noted above. Larger triggers such as groups or snow machines are more likely to initiate slides. In the Togwotee Pass area slabs of two to four feet in depth could be triggered by snow machines on steep slopes, particularly under cliff areas or just below ridge tops. The general avalanche hazard in all these areas is expected to be MODERATE.
