Above 9,000 feet, pockets of persistent slab up to 18 inches in depth could be triggered by skiers or riders in steep, wind-loaded avalanche starting zones.

Avalanche Discussion

Partly to mostly cloudy skies will continue through Friday along with a chance of light, scattered flurries. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the mid-teens before rising into the mid-20s during the day. Southwesterly to westerly ridgetop winds will range from 10 to 20 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Friday. Low hazard does not mean no hazard. Backcountry travelers venturing into steep, wind-loaded avalanche terrain might still be able to trigger slides with average slab depths up to 18 inches. In areas of heavily drifted snow near ridgelines, crown depths could reach 30 inches.
