Lo esencial
At the mid and upper elevations hard slabs to four feet in depth lie in avalanche terrain. These slabs lie upon a persistent weak layer of faceted snow that is well developed on northerly aspects. Backcountry skiers triggered a large, hard slab avalanche on the North side of Shadow Peak in Grand Teton National Park yesterday. At low elevations, avalanches are unlikely in the shallow snowpack.
