Avalanche Activity

Moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of solar radiation.

As a consequence of warming during the day mostly small moist and wet avalanches are possible. Backcountry tours and ascents to alpine cabins should be started and concluded early. Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2700 m. Below approximately 2500 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be generally moist. The new snow of the weekend is poorly bonded and generally at high altitude. The meteorological conditions will foster a substantial strengthening of the near-surface layers. Below approximately 2500 m only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

In the late morning as a consequence of solar radiation there will be a gradual increase in the avalanche danger.
