Forecast Snow Stability: Little change expected. The limited snowpack will have good stability in all locations, will continue to thaw and remain wet throughout. A surface crust possible at summit level for a time in the morning. Many areas will be bare of snow. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Rain will die out overnight. Patchy light rain will return by daybreak, with summit sleet possible in the morning. The Westerly gales will moderate overnight, becoming strong South-Westerly through the day. The freezing level will dip to summit level overnight, rising well above the summits by dawn. Observed Weather Influences: Persistent heavy rain at all elevations overnight and through the morning, easing slightly in the afternoon. Strong Westerly wind with summit gales. The freezing level remained above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The diminishing and wet snowpack is thawing at all elevations and has generally good stability throughout. Greatest snow cover is above 800 metres, patchy with many bare areas elsewhere. The avalanche hazard is Low.
