Forecast Snow Stability: Wet snow instabilities will develop overnight, affecting the snow at all levels. Avalanches are likely in steep wind sheltered locations on NW to NE aspects above 900m. Cornices will be prone to collapse. Elsewhere localised moderately bonded deposits will also be found in steep lee locations. Stability will improve during the day as the freezing level lowers. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Thaw conditions. Overnight, there will be rainfall at all levels, this will ease to isolated and light showers during the daytime. The freezing level will fall from above the summits to around 900 metres during the morning. Winds will veer from the South to the West and be moderate to strong in strength. Observed Weather Influences: Strong Southerly winds and snow showers above 600 metres, that become more isolated during the afternoon. The freezing level was around 600 metres overnight, rising to 900 metres during the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: There is a covering of soft snow at all levels. Unstable windslab is present mainly in wind sheltered locations on North-West to North-East aspects above 900 metres. Isolated moderately bonded deposits are also present on West and East aspects and at lower elevations. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
