Lo esencial

Low hazard does not mean no hazard. Winds were light during last night’s snowfall event. Skiers and riders venturing into very steep terrain above 8,500 feet could trigger loose snow sluffs involving the new snow, and afternoon sunshine may make these slides more likely. If areas of wind drifted snow are encountered, approach them cautiously especially if any slab development has occurred. Below 8,500 feet, snow depths are insufficient for avalanche activity.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A cold front dropping down from the north will bring light snow to the region overnight before tapering off in the morning. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the mid-teens before rising to near 20 during the day. Westerly ridgetop winds will veer to the north at 5 to 15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low on Saturday above 8,500 feet. With light winds overnight and modest snowfall, avalanche activity will remain unlikely. Below 8,500 feet, snow depths are insufficient for avalanche activity.
