An inversion formed overnight. Valley temperatures dropped below zero, and mountain temperatures warmed into the 20s. Above 9,500 feet, temperatures are up to 25 degrees warmer than yesterday morning. Across the region, a mostly stable snowpack exists, although, there still remains the possibility for skiers and riders to trigger small, isolated pockets of wind slab avalanches. These slabs will most likely be found, above 9,000 feet, on terrain features with wind drifted snow. Due to the early season conditions and thin snowpack, even a small slide could have high consequences.

A high-pressure ridge will continue to dominate the weather. Expect skies to be clear. Lower elevations temperatures will only rise into the 20’s in the afternoon while the higher elevations reach the 30’s and 40’s. Winds will remain light.The snowpack is mostly stable. The general avalanche hazard is low. A chance may remain for a person to trigger an isolated pocket of wind slab less than a foot in depth in avalanche stating zones at the higher elevations.
