Lo esencial

Blowing snow was observed throughout the day in the above treeline zone today. Pockets of steep terrain were actively wind loading. Wind slabs are still possible to trigger.

On Sunday, wind slabs near treeline were un-reactive to ski cuts on east and northerly slopes. Testing suggest the wind slabs are trending to being well bonded. In the higher terrain above treeline, it is a a slightly different story. Blowing snow was observed at ridgetops above treeline throughout the day and isolated slopes are still actively wind loading. Wind shifting to SE and E and NE could load a variety of aspects.

Avalanche Discussion

On Sunday, previously triggered windslabs were observed on steep SE and E facing slopes above treeline in the Broken Top area; size D1 and presumed natural and likely happend Saturday or Frday night. A slab triggered on Sunday was indirectly observed; size D1, steep E facing slope above treeline, presumed natural. No new avalanches were reported from near treeline.

Wind slabs near treeline are becoming non reactive and trending to unlikely to trigger. Above treeline there is still quite a bit of active wind loading going on and slabs are still possible to trigger.
