Lo esencial

Weak layers in the old snowpack necessitate caution and restraint. In particular shady places that are protected from the wind above approximately 2800 m: As the moisture increases moist small and medium sized avalanches are possible.

Tendency

From early morning probably danger level 3 (considerable) will be reached in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation above approximately 1800 m.

Snowpack Structure

The upper section of the snowpack is well consolidated and its surface has a crust that is strong in many cases. In particular sunny slopes and below approximately 2800 m: Precarious weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on steep northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Several medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large avalanches are possible.

Avalanche Activity

Weak layers in the old snowpack necessitate caution and restraint. In particular shady places that are protected from the wind above approximately 2800 m: As the moisture increases moist small and medium sized avalanches are possible.

Dry avalanches can be released in deeper layers, in particular by large additional loads. The avalanches can in isolated cases reach large size. As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase in particular on steep slopes below approximately 2600 m.
