The various wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack.

Snowpack Structure

Whumpfing sounds and shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack are a clear indication of a weakly bonded snowpack. Dry avalanches can also be triggered in the old snowpack and reach medium size.
