Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

The fresh wind slabs have formed in particular above approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of new snow and wind numerous dry avalanches are possible. They can over a wide area be released by a single winter sport participant and reach large size. The avalanche prone locations are prevalent and are difficult to recognise.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area 30 to 50 cm of snow has fallen. The wind has transported the new snow. The fresh snow of the last two days as well as the wind slabs formed during the snowfall are poorly bonded with the old snowpack.

Tendency

10 to 20 cm of snow will fall from the afternoon above approximately 1300 m.
