CM for 14/03/23 Weak windslab on E through S to SW aspects above 900m. Avalanche hazard - Moderate.

Forecast Snow Stability: Weak windslab will be present on steep East through South to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Most affected locations will be gully exits and the top of steep coire backwalls. New cornice development expected over steeper lee slopes. Better stability on ridges and recently wind-scoured locations. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A few light sporadic snow showers, otherwise dry. Very cold throughout. Strong North-East winds easing overnight and becoming light to moderate Westerly, later North-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight rain turned to snow at dawn. Mild overnight then suddenly colder. Winds have been fresh Easterly, later North-Easterly. ObservedSnowStability: The old exposed snowpack is now either frozen hard or crusty. Moderately bonded soft windslab is building on steep South West to West aspects above 930 metres. Some cross loading noted on a few sheltered South aspects above the same altitude. Good stability in most other locations. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
