Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs on steep shady slopes. Moist snow slides during the day are possible.

The small quantity of fresh snow and in particular the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. The avalanches in these loacations are only small. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small moist loose snow avalanches are possible in all altitude zones. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

Some fresh snow as well as isolated small wind slabs are lying on a crust. On shady slopes above approximately 2000 m there are 10 to 50 cm of snow, and even more in some localities. On steep sunny slopes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.

Tendency

Friday: The danger of dry avalanches will decrease quickly. The danger of moist avalanches will persist.
