The avalanche hazard is MODERATE above an elevation of 9000 feet where backcountry riders or skiers could trigger pockets of dense slab up to 18 inches in depth. These slabs are most likely to found in very steep wind loaded terrain in and around rocky or cliff areas. Below 9000 feet avalanches are unlikely except for in isolated pockets in very steep terrain.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Periods of light snow and moderate west to northwest are expected through mid day Friday. Temperatures are to rise into the low twenties. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate above 9000 feet where skiers and riders will have the potential to trigger pockets of dense surface slabs to depths of eighteen inches in very steep, rocky, wind loaded terrain near ridge crests. Below 9000 feet the hazard will be Low where isolated pockets to a foot in depth could be triggered.
