Lo esencial

A cold front will move through the area today, with rain and a few inches of mountain snow, we hope! Pay attention to wind blowing snow later in the day and tonight. Small drifts are possible. These drifts won't bury you if triggered, but could cause one to lose balance and fall on steeper slopes above treeline. The avalanche danger will remain low. Continue to be diligent for rocks that may become just buried by fresh snow.

Avalanche Discussion

Its been a hard knock life with regard to winter this season. December started out amazing, and then we fell on our face. While hopeful that these March storms will be whoppers, they have been more teases than anything else...little nuisance storms. Should we get going with Spring, or hold onto the hope of more winter? We here at the MSAC are holding onto the chance of a few more good storms because we LOVE winter, but sheesh, Mother Nature turned off the spigot back in early January, and it's showing. The bottom line: Keep that chin up folks, find some recreation out there, winter-based or not and as always, be kind to one and other.
