Weak snow layers can be found in most avalanche terrain at Togwotee. The most sensitive areas to triggering a slide will be areas where recent snow has been blown by varying winds to create more stresses on the snow surface. Although these areas may look and initiate like a small wind slab, they are likely to involve deeper weak layers once they fail. Although the chance to trigger avalanches has decreased over the last few days, small avalanches could still be triggered on steep hillsides and larger avalanche could also fail in larger starting zones near peaks and cliff areas. If triggered, slabs could have depths of anywhere from one to three feet.
