Forecast Snow Stability: Instabilities will persist in poorly bonded windslab accumulations on steep North to East aspects, mostly above 850 metres, with localised areas remaining at lower elevations. Fragile cornices will exist above these aspects. Through the day redistribution will cause localised areas of unstable windslab to also develop in wind sheltered locations on West and North-West aspects, mostly above 950 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: After a dry night and morning, light showers in the afternoon will initially be summit snow turning to rain at all levels. Light East-South-Easterly winds at dawn will increase to strong by the end of the afternoon. The freezing level will be around 800 metres overnight, rising above all summits during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight snow on strong South-West winds turned to showers during the day. The freezing level was around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Poorly bonded windslab continues to develop and gain depth on all steep North to East aspects, mainly above 850 metres, with more localised areas at lower elevations. Fragile cornices are developing above these aspects. Windward aspects are scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
